Seafood

While you can readily find a fish and chip shop in every village, finding great seafood in number and variety can be more challenging. A few suggestions follow.

Burger & Lobster (Multiple)

We have tried several times to get in but the long queues dissuaded us. This restaurant has a two-page drinks menu, but a much simpler food menu. There are only three items: burger, lobster and lobster roll. All three were perfectly cooked, though the best value is the lobster, which can be steamed or grilled. If you prefer not to get your hands dirty, you can get the lobster roll with lump crabmeat. Tell them you are sharing and they will split the items on separate platters. Each entree includes a small side salad and shoestring fries. If you have a larger party of 6-10, booking is an option. Otherwise go on the early side and see if there is a spot open at the bar. Service here is super quick, with our food arriving within 10 minutes of ordering. Alternatively, you can put your name down for a table and have a drink at the bar while you wait. Be advised that they won’t seat incomplete parties.

Forman's Restaurant & Bar (London)

Run by H. Forman & Son, this is Britain's oldest salmon fishery. It is the only restaurant within Olympic Park and supplies fresh fish to the top hotels, restaurants and retailers, including Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Fortnum & Mason, The Dorchester and The House of Lords to name a few. It is open Thursday and Friday for dinner, Saturday for brunch and dinner and Sunday lunch. You can now walk through Olympic Stadium to the restaurant. Food and drink are also served in their gallery and lounge bar space where they host exhibitions throughout the year (including nibbles and wine). If all this wasn't enough, their Forman & Field catalogue features 'ready-to-serve' dishes and gift hampers you can have delivered to your door.

J Sheekey (London)

Having moved from the US Gulf Coast we’ve definitely missed easily accessible and well prepared seafood. Though on the pricier side, this place does not disappoint, with their chargrilled squid, razor clams, oysters, and beautifully prepared fish, with great sides like creamed spinach, green beans, etc. Save room for their fabulous desserts. The Cru Virunga Chocolate and Honeycomb Brittle are decadent. You can also get an order of chocolate truffles or a chocolate trio (brownies, fudge and another item) to take away.
